Free Tree Project
This annual project has been in place since 1993.
Chaired by Bill Williams, this project is one of
the most popular that we have. The program is advertised in the local media, by
club members, and by word of mouth. Ohio Wesleyan has graciously allowed us to
use the Hamilton-Williams Center as our distribution center. The facility is
ideally suited to our purpose, centrally located and readily accessible to the
general public.
We have distributed more than 230,000 trees to date, and at no
charge! Some recipients do make a donation which helps defray our total cost. We
have distributed trees to schools, scout troops, camps, the Shade Tree
Commission, and neighborhood organizations, as well as individuals. This project
is a leader in our community for public awareness the environment. Each entity
must be dedicated to the preservation of these trees to their maturity.
With a maturing ratio of 50%, this continuing project will have an effect in
the quality of our air and the ultimate temperature and stability of our land.
Not to mention the enhanced beauty of the Delaware County landscape.
